About Me

Gabriela Taboas (She/Her) is a Puerto Rican writer and New York Times bestselling editor.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she has a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Puerto Rico, and an MFA in Creative Writing for Children and Young Adults from The New School.

From 2020 to 2024, she was the Associate Editor for Brands and Licenses in Penguin Workshop, a Penguin Random House imprint. She worked on creating books for all ages for popular brands such as Bluey, Godzilla, Sonic the Hedgehog, Roald Dahl, The Little Engine That Could, and more. She edited the New York Times bestelling Bluey: Love from Bluey, Bluey: Sleepytime, and Love from Llama Llama.

In 2023, Gabriela acquired Queens of the Crypt, a young adult horror novel written and illustrated by Dom&Ink, slated to release Summer 2026. Gabriela also helped develop young adult horror/thriller IP. She previously worked at Scholastic from 2019 to 2020 as an Administrative Assistant for Brands, Licenses, and Media.

Gabriela is the winner of the Chapbook Competition for Writing for Children and Young Adults in 2018.

She spends her free time writing her young adult stories about brujas and curses, as well as freelancing under her pen name G.M. King and G.M. Taboas Zayas. Check out her freelance projects here.
